  Noteringar	Alfred was buried on January 5, 1945 at Roselawn Cemetery, St. Paul, MN. SOURCE: 1999 - Daniel Evjen, grandson of Thelka Augusta Hellerstedt Edwall - His aunt Kyia died at age 104. Thelka, whowas Alfred's daughter, reported that the town of Edwall, located in Eastern Washington state, is named after Alfred. According to the story, Alfred worked as a railroad supervisor at the town's location and when new employees needed assignment from Spokane, Washington, they would be told to go out and see Edwall. My grandmother also told me that a lake in Minnesota is named Edwall after Alfred, but I haven't found any such lake. OCCUPATION: He first worked as a shoemaker when he first emigrated from Sweden. He worked for the Great Northern Railwayfor 51 years. I wish I could be home with you tonight, as I am sure you are lonely. I have not got any letter from mama, so I don't know if she left for Panama today. If she did you will be lonely for a few days, but don't worry as everything will go alright. I am glad mama did make up her mind tocome, it will do her a pile of good to get a little rest and now you and all of you children want to be good so ma don'thave to hear any bad news from you. Don't go away from home with anyone, if anyone want to take you out, don't go. I write you this because you are now old enough to understand me and you do well if you remember. There are all kinds of people in this world of ours and the class that come in automobiles and fine clothes, them are so a...... the low down rascals. So once more, don't go out away from home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mail from Alfred from the Gorgona Canal Zone, dated July 2, 1912: Dear Children: It is only a day or two since I wrote you, but will write again. I get a little bit homesick once in a while, whenever Iget to thinking of you, of my little baby Sylvia, and all of you little and big. Well, I soon start for home again, as Iwill leave the 15th of this month and get to Hasty about the 25th. I have seen all of Canal Zone and a great deal of oldPanamanians are about to have Election and here is an awfull nosie going on about it. Tomorrow evening there will be abig ........ of Colonel Gothels, at the Y.C.C. hotel here. Three hundred and fifty people will be sitt to table all atonesitting, so you must know it is a big Diningroom. We are invited but I don't think I will go, as I have no dress for suchan ocasion .... and Jed might go. The Marine band will play during the evening. We have been invited out so much thatI had to cut it, it keeps me tired and I want.
