My computers and such, (everything about
computing in my life)
Not always have I been intrested in computers, I just
played games on them, like Counter Strike: Source, and Unreal,
nothing more. It was first when I saw my dads 80286 DTK computer
laying on the side in a shelf that I really got intrested, I was
like 11 years old at the time.
I started playing Monkey Island (The Secret of) on the 286 and
I had alot of fun with it. I were beginning to get intrested in
how it looked inside, because it was a heavy piece of shit (really
heavy). When I finally got it apart it looked wonderful and absoulutely
awesome!!!
Me and my friend Simon (Aka Fluffy) were playing with some
Pentium I/II's at his home, installing Windows 95, 98 and Redhat
Linux. We both learned alot about computing by doing that, dissassembling
computer and assembling them. And I learned by that you should
not throw CD drives, motherboards and a powerful and expensive
graphicscard together right down a backpack and then take the
bike to one another, the graphicscard will probably be dead after
that..... :P
At the age of 13, I heard that Simons dad once had a ZX80 and
that he still maybe had it left, but he hadn't. :( So I tried
to build my own, which I very soon understood
that with my knowledge back then, wasn't able to do.
The computers themselfes:
DTK CAF 80286
This is the first computer I ever took apart, and my first retro
computer. I love her with all of my digital heart! :)
Commodore PET 3032
The first computer I bought at the Chalmers
ETA Auktion for $20 in 2007. At first I got garbled text all
over the screen. Re-seating all IC's solved the problem.
IBM XT (AT) 286)
Bought at the Chalmers
ETA Auktion for 1 dollar in 2010. Runs just great, it's just
that I get a 163 memory error on startup, but what ever.
HP-85
Bought at the Chalmers
ETA Auction for $20 in 2010, having problems with some bad
connections with the CRT, and almost all the wires are broken,
and so it needs some drastic repairing.
Debbie I
Debbie I is a retro gaming computer that I put together from middle
90's parts. She's packed with the most powerful stuff from that
computer age, so don't underestimate her just because she's small,
she's a really heavy one. The brain is an Intel Pentium 1 running
at 233MHz. Year 2000 approved!
:D
Compaq Presario 5696
My first real computer (the first one was actually a 486), and
it's the best fucking one I've ever had. Running windows 98 and
equipped with an ATI TV-tuner graphics card, I now use it together
with my Nokia boxer as a TV. :D I have so many great memories
with this one, first time registering on the MSN Messenger service,
playing Unreal for the first time aswell as Quake II and listening
to 60's music. It has a Pentium III running at 500MHz.
My bedroom computer (For gaming)
This is simply my gaming computer. Though it looks like a piece
of crap that runs Windows 95, it has Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and
runs Crysis on the highest graphics modes without a hint of lag
at all. Great for Minecraft!
